Naitolia Dispensary

Naitolia dispensary

In August 2016, a new dispensary opened in Naitolia. The dispensary is staffed by a clinical officer, Joice Shangai, and trained midwife, Roman Minja. For women in Naitolia, the newly built and staffed health facility means less time and cost associated with travel for prenatal care, labor and delivery, and medical treatment for post-partum and postnatal infection. TPP and Monduli District funded the construction of a dispensary incinerator in 2019 after women in the community raised concerns about medical waste disposal. The dispensary staff hope that residents will continue to bring their health concerns to the clinic in the future.

Health Staff Training

Training for clinic staff

In 2017, Dr. Alice Mwanda from MSU's College of Nursing conducted a training on cervical cancer for the Monduli District health staff. Reproductive health education for boys and girls also took place at the Naitolia primary school.

Community Education

Lesson on water safety

In 2018, Tula Ngasala, a former PhD student from MSU, coordinated a community training session on water safety and treatment methods. Community members received a laminated sheet with pictures depicting the treatment steps. Ngasala encouraged the treatment of all water collected for household use from potentially unsafe sources.
